    Mexico, Puerto Rico qualify for the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027

    Both teams advanced to the Centrobasket Qualifiers Final with Semi-Finals victories on Friday, securing their places in the continental tournament.

    MANAGUA (Nicaragua) – Mexico and Puerto Rico officially secured their spots in the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027 on Friday after advancing to the Final of the Centrobasket Qualifiers, currently being played at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello in Managua, Nicaragua. With their Semi-Finals victories, both national teams claimed two of the three available berths to the premier women's basketball championship in the Americas, which will be held in El Salvador. Mexico earned their place by defeating the Virgin Islands, while Puerto Rico advanced by overcoming the Dominican Republic. The two teams will now meet on Saturday in the Final to determine the Centrobasket Qualifiers champion. The race for the third and final spot in the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027 has also been decided. The Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic will battle for the remaining berth when they face off in the bronze medal game. El Salvador, as host of the FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2027, has already secured automatic qualification.
