    Potential men's team cornerstones?

JEDDAH (Saudi Arabia) - There has been renewed optimism over at Chinese Taipei following the arrival of Robert and Adam Hinton to a men's squad that's looking to rise as a solid contender in Asia once again.

The rising star brothers from Los Angeles first played for the blue-and-white during the William Jones Cup back in 2023, and the program has since made it known how much it would love to keep them for the long-term.

Both players have been named part of the team's 16-man roster for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, which could also mean a shot at history should they get selected to the final lineup for the August 5-17 competitions.

If ever, they'd become the first siblings to represent Chinese Taipei in an international meet.

Fans have grown so excited since first seeing the Hintons in action, for they have brought athleticism to a team that's long been known for its ability to knock down the three-point shot with pinpoint accuracy.

Take a look at their social media pages and you'd see that they could be considered highlight machines - from nailing beautiful, acrobatic layups, to serving up thunderous poster dunks to the opposing defense.

But really, the fact that they've added further depth to the East Asian unit is making their supporters all the more thrilled to see how their national team would look in the future, should they be given the keys.

Add to that the prospect of watching both Hintons playing in bigger leagues abroad.

Because both brothers have been competing solidly in the US collegiate scene. The 22-year-old Adam, for one, has grown to become a key contributor for Cornell University after doing well during the 2024-25 season.

Adam joined the Big Red back in 2022 following a standout senior campaign with Harvard-Westlake School where he averaged 15.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 steals on 52-47-83 shooting splits.

His younger brother, Robert, on the other hand, is making waves in another Ivy League school.

A four-star recruit, the 19-year-old unanimously won Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors with Harvard University behind per-game norms of 14.6 points on 47.7-percent shooting, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

Recently, both Adam and Robert competed in the Jones Cup, where they played crucial roles in helping Chinese Taipei-Blue cop the silver medal in the 44th staging of the annual basketball showcase.

Over the past two years, the two have been showing much promise with the men's team, and they're definitely hoping that it translates in a stage as big as the Asia Cup that starts next week should they get called up.

The Hinton brothers and the Chinese Taipei are situated in Group D with rivals Philippines, 2022 bronze medalists New Zealand, and Iraq. To know more about their FIBA Asia Cup 2025 campaign, click here.
