    Bruno Caboclo, Juan Fernández join Yago Santos in FIBA AmeriCup All Star 5

    Bruno Caboclo, Juan Fernández, Kyshawn George, and Javonte Smart joined tournament MVP Yago Santos in the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 All Star 5.

    MANAGUA (Nicaragua) – Brazilians Yago Santos and Bruno Caboclo headlined the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup All-Star Five after leading their country to its fifth continental gold medal. Santos was named Most Valuable Player after contributing 14 points and 5 assists in the final against Argentina. The 26-year-old point guard finished No. 3 in efficiency (20.0) after averaging 17.8 points, 6.2 assists and 3.3 rebounds. The Brazilian conductor shot 48.7 percent from beyond the arc and finished No. 5 in scoring and No. 4 in dimes overall.

    Teammate Caboclo was a steady presence throughout the tournament and contributed 11 points, 7 rebounds, a steal, and a block in the final. The 29-year-old big man averaged 14.8 points, 7.3 rebounds (No. 5), 1.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks. Juan Fernández had a breakout performance for Argentina that included a 36-point, 16-rebound double-double in the group stage matchup. Including eight blocks against Puerto Rico in the quarter-finals. Overall, he finished with averages of 13.7 points, 6 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks (second-best in the tournament). The United States was represented by Javonte Smart, who scored 21 points with 4 assists to secure bronze against Canada. The 26-year-old averaged 15.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists, while shooting 55.4 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from 3-point range. Canada’s Kyshawn George rounded out the All-Star Five. In his senior national team debut, the 20-year-old foward averaged 13.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 steals across six games.

    Norchad Omier (Nicaragua), José Alvarado (Puerto Rico), Georginho De Paula (Brazil), José Vildoza (Argentina) and Mfiondu Kabengele (Canada) were named to the All Star 5 second team.

    Despite not being able to notch a win for the home crowd, Omier was unstoppable during the Group Stage, where he averaged 22.3 points, 18.3 rebounds, and 2 steals to finish with the No. 1 efficiency rating (37.3). Alvarado produced 17.8 points per game, the fifth best mark in the tournament. He had 4.5 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2.3 steals. De Paula, who exploded for a career-high 28 points in the quarter-finals, finished No. 4 in efficiency (18.6) after averaging 11.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks. Vildoza was instrumental in Argentina’s huge semi-final win over Canada (26 points while shooting 7-for-9 from beyond the arc) and finished the tournament with averages of 14.8 points and 5.8 assists on 46.7 percent from three-point range. Kabengele (12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds) had a solid tournament for Canada, which fell just short of a medal.
