Panathinaikos squeeze past Avenida; Castors Braine duo on fire
The home fans in Salamanca were left disappointed as Perfumerias Avenida were undone 78-70 by Panathinaikos A.C. A big last quarter from the visitors sealed the deal, as did a brilliant 15 points and 11 assists from the in-form Feyonda Fitzgerald. There was also a super 20 points from Samantha Galanopoulos.
Castors Braine showed their potential for a deep run after edging out EuroLeague Women Qualifiers participants Zabiny Brno. They left Czechia having pocketed a 71-65 win that was built on a superb shared 40 points for De Yona Gaston and Alicia Courthiau - the former grabbing 9 boards and the latter handing out 7 dimes.
There was a tremendous matchup as Movistar Estudiantes just slipped past UFAB49 by 87-82 in Angers. The away side got over the finishing line despite the brilliance of home star Ann Ngo Ndjock who showed out with 32 points.
Tied at 72-72 with less than five minutes remaining, Estudiantes made their moved and were propelled by a brilliant 12 assists from Aleksandra Stanacev - as well as a double-double of 10 points and 11 boards from Nneka Ezeigbo.
Athinaikos Qualco were left breathing a sigh of relief after almost squandering a 20-point advantage before eventually riding their way past Charnay Basket 75-69. Hungarian center Virag Takacs-Kiss impressed with 10 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists.
