Boca Juniors cruise past Aguada, book a place in BCL Americas Quarter-Finals

    Game Report

In Nicolás Casalánguida’s debut, the reigning runners-up delivered a dominant Group C win to eliminate Aguada.

BELO HORIZONTE (Brazil) – Boca Juniors (ARG) showed no mercy, rolling past Aguada (URU) for a 101-54 victory in Group C to secure a spot in the Quarter-Finals. The game also marked the debut of head coach Nicolás Casalánguida on the Boca bench, and he earned high marks in his first outing in the Basketball Champions League Americas 2025–26.

    Turning point

From the opening tip, Boca capitalized on Aguada’s ball-handling lapses and converted efficiently. The Argentine club held a 28–11 lead after the first quarter and remained in full control the rest of the way, extending the margin to 54–25 at halftime and 80–46 after three periods.

    Player of the game

Captain Sebastián Vega and Agustín Barreiro led the way with 15 points apiece for the winners, who had six players score in double figures. Franco Giorgetti added 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Nicolás Stenta (13), Juan Guerrero (10) and Lucas Faggiano (10 points, 8 assists) rounded out the scoring.

    Sebastian Vega

Martín Cuello chipped in 6 points and reached 504 career points in the BCL Americas, becoming the 11th player in competition history to surpass the 500-point mark. For Aguada, only Luis Santos (25 points, 9 rebounds) scored more than 6 points. The Dominican center finished his BCL Americas career with 209 total rebounds, ranking eighth all-time among players with 200 or more.

    Stats don’t lie

In the first half alone, Aguada committed 15 turnovers, and by halftime Boca had already built a 26–0 advantage in points off turnovers. The Uruguayan side finished with 23 turnovers, compared to just 6 for Boca. The Argentines dominated points off turnovers (41–2) and fast-break points (29–2), underscoring control beyond the shooting gap. Boca also held a clear edge in field goal percentage (51 percent to 34 percent) and dished out 31 assists.

    Bottom line

Already assured of a spot in the next round, Boca (3–2) will face hosts Minas Tênis Clube (4–1) on Friday at Arena UniBH in Belo Horizonte, with first place in Group C on the line. Minas clinched a Quarter-Final berth a day earlier, and the winner of the matchup will finish atop the group. Aguada (1–5) exited the competition after a difficult final stage, losing the last two games by margins of 32 and 47 points, respectively.
