GUADALAJARA (Mexico) – Astros de Jalisco once again showcased their overwhelming dominance in Group A of the Basketball Champions League Americas 2025-26, breaking their own single-game scoring record for the third time this season with a 140-69 victory over Caimanes del Llano to finish the Group Phase with a perfect 6-0 record.
In their three matchups against Caimanes, the Mexican side scored 123, 131, and now 140 points. They also posted 125 against Paisas Basketball Club. These four totals are the highest single-game scoring outputs by a team in BCL Americas history. Astros also established six additional offensive records (see “Stats don’t lie” section) to cap a historic Thursday night performance in front of their home crowd.
Turning point
Caimanes were competitive in the first quarter, which ended tied at 24. However, midway through the second period, the hosts began applying full-court pressure. This forced multiple ball-handling errors and quickly pulled away to a 63-43 lead before continuing to widen the gap. Caimanes finished the game with 23 turnovers, which translated into 32 points for Astros. The team also allowed 59 fast-break points.
Player of the game
Trey Burke led the offensive showcase for the Jalisco squad with 31 points, including five three-pointers. Daishon Smith flirted with a triple-double, posting 23 points, 11 assists, and 9 rebounds, while Tyran De Lattibeaudiere added 20 points.
Michael Carrera (17), Adonys Henríquez (14), and Israel Gutiérrez (11) also reached double figures in scoring. For Caimanes, Argentine guard Alejo Britos scored 20 points, knocking down 6 three-pointers.
