USA, Canada impress in undefeated weekend

MIES (Switzerland) - We're almost 10 days away from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 as the teams continue their intense preparations for the main events.

Over the weekend, North American counterparts USA and Canada went undefeated against tough opponents to highlight the action.

Don't forget to keep up with all of the preparation game action leading up to the World Cup in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia that gets underway in just over 10 days!

Canada claim SuperCup in overtime Finale

The home team fans in Hamburg might have felt slightly disappointed that Germany were unable to wrap up the Basketball SuperCup as champions. However, they certainly got their ticket's worth after witnessing an exciting Final that went to overtime with Canada coming out on top, 113-112.

The star of the title game was none other than RJ Barrett who poured in 31 points on 13-14 field-goal shooting. In a way, it was another kind reminder that Barrett was the star of Canada's U19 World Cup squad from 2017 that won it all. Heading into his first World Cup, Canada basketball fans are hoping to see a similar run from their star player.

Basketball SuperCup results:

Semi-Finals: CAN vs NZL - 107-76
Semi-Finals: GER vs CHN - 107-58
Third-place Game: CHN vs NZL - 69-68
Final: CAN vs GER - 113-112 (OT)

USA stay perfect in Torneo del Centenario FEB

The Torneo del Centenario FEB featured a strong three-team playing field and even then, USA managed to come out with two big wins against Slovenia and Spain.

USA continue to have a balanced effort on offense throughout the roster, building up towards a World Cup where they hope to make their way back to a title. Against Slovenia, it was Anthony Edwards who led the team with 15 points while Jalen Brunson led USA with 21 against Spain.

Even though they lost the game to USA, the host saw many positive signs in the team as they approach their title-defending campaign. In particular, the continued impressive play of senior national team debutant Santi Aldama.

ESP vs SLO - 99-79
USA vs SLO - 92-62
