Host broadcasting crew breaking new ground at FIBA U19 WWC

MADRID (Spain) - The world premiere of the LED glass floor isn't the only element blazing a trail at the FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup 2023 as the event has yet another thing to be proud of in Madrid.

For the first time at a flagship international basketball event, women are leading the majority of roles for the appointed Host Broadcasting crew.

Among those working in the Spanish capital is the Live Director, Claudia Santos who started her international broadcast TV production career in 2010, at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Istanbul. As an EVS operator, she also later participated in some EuroBasket tournaments. 

In Portugal, she has been one of the female pioneers in sports broadcasts in is fiercely proud to be in Madrid for a historic event.

She said: "I'm delighted to be part of this premier women’s Host Broadcast crew and very proud of having great women working with me to deliver good basketball games.

"This is both with camera and also EVS operators as well. It's a very dedicated technical team with all positions filled in by great professionals," added Santos.

This groundbreaking move is also further evidence of FIBA's unwavering commitment to achieving its strategic priority, 'Women In Basketball' which is proving to be transformational both on and off the court.
