Argentina boss Arrigoni includes six youngsters among 16 players for U17 training camp

BUENOS AIRES (2016 FIBA U17 World Championship) - Argentina Technical Director Marcelo Arrigoni has included six 2000-born players in the 16-man preliminary roster for the country's third training camp in preparation for the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship.

Center Francisco Caffaro is the only one of the bottom-level players who played with Argentina at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

In addition to Caffaro, Arrigoni also invited 2000-born guards Francisco Farabello and Juan Ignacio Marcos, wing Juan De La Fuente and centers Andres Bodach and Cristian Bihurriet to Argentina’s third training camp.

The previous two camps - one in March and one in April - both took place in the country's CeNARD National Center of High Performance Athletics facility in Buenos Aires. The third training camp will run from May 16-21 at Los Rosas in Santa Fe.

All told, nine of the players who helped Argentina finish third at last summer's FIBA Americas U16 Championship are among the 16 shortlisted, including leading scorer and assist man Lautaro Lopez and leading rebounder Jonatan Basualdo.

Arrigoni did invite two 1999-born players who did not play last summer, power forward Juan Fernandez and center Juan Cruz Germano.

The Argentineans plan on competing in a warmup tournament in France from 15-17 June before playing at the FIBA U17 World Championship, where they are drawn into Group B with hosts SpainLithuania and Mali.
