“We have a lot of height, a lot of athleticism, everybody is unselfish. This is the most unselfish group of people I have been around that are great basketball players. I think they really have bought into the fact that it is not about them and it is about the USA. I’m looking forward to trying to put them in situations where they can make each other better and bring out their strengths,” said Head Coach Mark Campbell in the USA Basketball Press Release.
USA was selected to Group B of the continental championship along with Mexico, El Salvador, and Chile. Group A is composed of Brazil, Ecuador, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
The defending champions will start the continental competition against Mexico and will then face El Salvador and the host to close-out the Group Phase.
The Quarter-Finals will be played on June 20, the Semi-Finals on June 21, and the Final on June 22.
The top four teams of the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship 2019 will qualify to the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2020.
