KCCA Leopards, KPA face off in do or die encounter

KAMPALA (FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017) - The battle for a place in the top two will intensify when KCCA Leopards take on Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in a must win tie for both sides at the ongoing FIBA Africa Zone 5 Club Championship 2017 in the Ugandan capital.

Both teams have already registered a loss in the regional competition and cannot afford to lose another if they are to stay in contention for the two slots to the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017 set to be held next month in Angola.

KCCA Leopards duo in the paint Martha Soigi and Muhayimana Namuwaya will have to turn up on both offense and defense if they are to overcome the defending champions who boast of a decent pairing too in Felmas Koranga Adhiambo and Brigid Nyongesa Nanzala.

At the back court, if the games earlier this week are anything to go by, it will come down to KPA's point guard Natalie Akinyi and Cynthia Irankunda of KCCA, an old rivalry from when the latter featured for USIU of Kenya.

In the other big encounter between the unbeaten sides, the UCU Lady Canons will face yet another big test when they take on the Equity Hawks of Kenya in the battle for top spot.

That this tie will be tightly contested is an understatement and indeed the winner will be favorite to qualify for the continental showpiece that will attract the best clubs in Africa.

APR will be gunning for their second win at the tournament when they take on Horseed from Somalia who are winless in three games so far.
