Varese, Legia and Porto take the final tickets to the Quarter-Finals

MUNICH (Germany) - The last three Quarter-Finals places were confirmed on Gameday 6 with FC Porto, Itelyum Varese and Legia Warszawa all celebrating their places.

Varese needed to beat CSM CSU Oradea as well as the other result in their group to go their way, while Legia had to avoid a double-digit deficit on the road against Sporting CP.

Olivier Hanlan starred for Varese with a game-high 29 points as the Italian side eventually put CSM CSU Oradea to the sword 103-96 to advance to the Play-Offs. The visitors poured in 39 points in the third quarter on the way to a decisive victory that was coupled with defeat for ZZ Leiden.

The Dutch side had their fate in their own hands ahead of the final round of games, but succumbed to Group N winners NINERS Chemnitz in a 78-57 loss with DeAndre Lansdowne top scoring with 15 points.


Legia Warszawa also punched their ticket to the Play-Offs with what turned out to be a commanding 99-86 road win at Sporting CP.

Trailing 48-32 inside the first half, the Polish side were in danger of facing elimination, but got themselves going in the third quarter before seeing out the job. Loren Jackson led the way with 23 points, closely followed by Christian Vital with 22 points to help their side advance.

Elsewhere, Bahcesehir College will head to the Quarter-Finals with serious momentum as they brushed Jonava CBet aside 119-79 for their 11th straight win with 20 three-point makes. There was also double Spanish success with Surne Bilbao Basket beating Balkan Botevgrad 90-63, and Casademont Zaragoza able to overcome Manisa BBSK 88-71.

On Tuesday, FC Porto secured a decisive 82-64 win over BG Gottingen in the decisive Group K clash to the delight of the home crowd as they next meet Bahcesehir in the Quarter-Finals. Tanner Omlid, who filled the statsheet with 29 points - on 6-for-8 three-point shooting - along with 7 steals, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.


The visiting side from Germany had led 52-50 late in the third, before a 10-0 close gave Porto momentum to take into the fourth. They then closed out qualification in style with some spectacular plays down the stretch to put on a show with Gottingen left to miss out on the next phase.
