Russia land bronze while Lithuania suffer relegation to Division B

MATOSINHOS (FIBA U20 Women's European Championship) - Russia have claimed consecutive bronze medals at the FIBA U20 Women's Championship after sweeping aside France, while Lithuania will be playing in Division B next year.

Russia bounced back from their Semi-Final loss to Spain and what has proven to be their only defeat of the tournament as they tore apart France 80-59 to take the last podium step. Yulia Kozik had 18 points, while Anna Burovaya provided 9 assists.

The other major piece of business of the day aside from the medals being distributed was who would join the already relegated Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina in dropping into the second tier for 2018.

The answer came in the shape of Lithuania who crashed 74-56 against Netherlands, the latter surviving with a vibrant victory. Lithuania couldn't cope with some fantastic play by Ilse Kuijt who eventually amassed 26 points and 7 assists, while Janis Ndiba went to work with a quality 14 points and 17 rebounds. There was also 10 points and 10 assists for Laura Westerik.
