Dramatic wins for Serbia and hosts on Day 2
MATOSINHOS (FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2017) - There was high drama on the second day of the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2017 in Matosinhos as Serbia and Portugal got off the mark.
Jovana Nogic was the hero for Serbia as she dropped a game-winning triple at the death to hand her team a valuable first victory of the tournament. Her timely intervention from long-range gifted Serbia a 75-72 win against Netherlands, with Snezana Bogicevic also instrumental in the success with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

The hosts rode a real roller-coaster in their match-up against Lithuania to eventually take a nerve-shredding 71-69 triumph that had the fans jumping for joy. Carolina Goncalves amassed 21 points before fouling out, while Carolina Bernardeco pulled the strings impressively and harvested 18 points.
France and Poland also got first wins of the competition as the former held off Bosnia and Herzegovina 73-63 thanks mainly to 16 points and 12 rebounds from Maeve Djaldi-Tabdi, with Poland outlasting Belgium 70-50.
Elsewhere, Slovenia brought Hungary back down to earth 77-55 as Annamaria Prezelj poured in 25 points. A perfect 9-of-9 shooting display from Paula Ginzo underpinned an 87-48 win for Spain against Sweden and Russia are also 2-0 after sweeping aside Turkey 81-51.
