Race for promotion: Exciting Quarter-Finals lineup set in Skopje

SKOPJE (North Macedonia) - The conclusion of group play at the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2022, Division B means the lineup for the Quarter-Finals in Skopje has now been confirmed.

The top two teams in each group have been rewarded with a place in the last eight and potential promotion to the top tier, while the remaining teams are left to play classification games.

Four of those nations heading for the Quarter-Finals march on undefeated, including Group A winners Turkey, who signed off their first phase campaign by beating Switzerland 69-45 with Sude Yilmaz top scorer with 13 pointsSecond place in Group A went to Greece who had beaten Ukraine 82-56 some 24 hours earlier.

Israel have performed impressively so far and that has seen them crowned as Group B winners, landing a huge 108-44 triumph against Georgia. Yarden Garzon was again Israel's marquee player with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Germany erupted against Armenia in a 101-30 victory that secured second place in Group B as Lina Sontag excelled with a dazzling 22 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals.

Montenegro are still undefeated after they eased past derby rivals Croatia 80-49 to advance as Group C winners as Maja Bigovic garnered 14 points and 12 rebounds. Romania was hoping to be Group C runners-up and were in the box-seat - or at least until they lost 55-53 to a triumphant North Macedonia who took the ticket on offer. Matea Atanasovska impressed with 10 points and 5 rebounds fot the hosts.

Meanwhile pole position in Group D went to Slovenia as they shut down Iceland 76-49 with Manca Vrecer posting her best display so far with 19 points, 7 boards and 5 assists. Second place was taken by Norway who celebrated despite being pipped 52-51 by Slovakia.
