Risacher named MVP to lead All-Star Five

IZMIR (Turkey) - Ainhoa Risacher stood tall after the dust settled as she was named MVP after guiding France to the title at the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2023.

Risacher scored 15 points to go with 3 blocks, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in France's 67-63 win over Spain in the Final.


For the tournament, the versatile shooting guard compiled 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists 2.0 steals and 1.1 triples per game.

Risacher headlined the All-Star Five, which included Spain's Martina Vizmanos Iglesis, Croatia star Olivia Vukosa, Nicole Ogun from Finland as well as Emma Giacchetti from third place Italy.

Vizmanos Iglesis was limited to just 8 points in the Final but she had averages of 10.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the competition.

Meanwhile, Vukosa continued her tournament-long brilliance on the final day. She had a 28-point, 16-rebound double-double as Croatia advanced to the FIBA U17 Women's World Cup 2024.

Ogun was outstanding despite Finland's loss in the third place game. She had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. She finished with averages of 9.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.

Lastly, Giacchetti struggled a bit as Italy won third place. She had 9 points in her final performance while shooting just 3-of-10 from the field. Still, she finished the tournament averaging 9.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.3 steals per game.
