Spar Citylift Girona back from the brink and road joy for Nadezhda

MUNICH (Germany) - There were two highly exciting first-leg games in the Semi-Finals of EuroCup Women as Spar Citylift Girona came back from the dead and Nadezhda jumped into the box-seat in their tie.

While ordinarily, a 69-66 road win for BLMA  at Spar Citylift Girona would be the source of much celebration, the French side missed an opportunity to plant one foot firmly in the Final.

They squandered a commanding 18-point advantage as Girona came roaring back to breathe life into their prospects with a scorching 27-12 last quarter.

Keisha Hampton was the savior for the hosts after erupting for 32 points, while Ana Dabovic top scored for BLMA with 12 points.

"We were strong on defense and I really think that losing by 18 points wasn't a fair result looking at the job that we were doing," mused Girona playcaller, Eric Suris afterwards.

"We are alive. We will keep believing until the end and my players won't give up. The Semi-Finals are open and we want to enjoy EuroCup Women until the last second.

"The last quarter was amazing, I have no words to describe our fans. The atmosphere was in line with the Semi-Finals - it was top level," he added.

Nadezhda are looking well set after they completed a 67-61 win at Famila Schio and will be looking to finish the job on home soil next week.

Brionna Jones showed out for Nadezhda with a 25-point and 13-rebound double-double, while there was a nice cameo from Erica Wheeler with 16 points and 7 assists.  Meanwhile Allie Quigley dropped an impressive 24 points in defeat.
