BLMA back from the brink and champions fight on as last spots filled for Round of 8

MUNICH (Germany) - The last five tickets to the Round of 8 have been punched as BLMA saved their season and Galatasaray got the win needed to maintain the defense of their precious silverware.

Holding only a slender one-point advantage from their home game against DVTK, they dug out a nerve-shredding 69-65 victory in Hungary to progress. Victoria Macaulay came up big down the stretch and finished with 24 points from a stunning 80 percent floor shooting.

Reyer Venezia were beaten in last year's Final and they won't be making a return after a staggering rescue mission by BLMA. Down by 19 points from the first leg in Venice, the French side came back from the dead with an 83-60 win. Ornella Bankole netted 25 points, with Sami Whitcomb contributing 24 points and center Helena Ciak chipping in with 14 points and 10 boards.

The surprise run of underdogs MBK Ruzomberok was ended by Tarbes GB as the French side slipped past their opponents 62-48 to wipe out a three-point deficit from the first game. As usual Alex Prince was the star of the show with a phenomenal 34 points and 16 rebounds.

Wisla CANPACK had a huge lead from their first meeting at Nantes Reze and they made no mistake in the return fixture with a 64-56 victory, thanks mainly to 14 points and 10 boards from Mercedes Russell.

Lyon ASVEL Feminin also finished the job, this time denying a Polish side in the shape of Gorzow. The French visitors built on an eight-point first-leg  victory with a 81-67 success, which was powered by another imposing display by Clarissa Dos Santos. The Brazilian forward racked up 16 points and 16 rebounds.
