Roundup: Agu Spor reload, Fenerbahce make a statement

MUNICH (EuroCup/EuroLeague Women) – It has been an eventful few days in Turkey after Agu Spor made a couple of significant signings and Fenerbahce showed their desire to recapture their Championship.

Handy and Lacy head to Agu Spor, Fenerbahce beat Yakin Dogu
Agu Spor have had a mixed start to both the domestic season and in EuroCup Women and the Kayseri side have opted to bolster their roster with a double-signing. Having penned a deal with the all-action guard Natasha Lacy, they have revealed that they have also agreed to terms with Great Britain national team forward, Chantelle Handy.

Both will join the team this week and could feature in EuroCup Women, with Agu Spor having enjoyed a tight 56-54 league success at Botas, thanks to 17 points from Marianna Tolo.

But, the biggest win of the week in Turkey came as Fenerbahce exacted revenge on their Istanbul rivals Yakin Dogu Universitesi. Having lost in the Finals last season, they beat their city adversaries 78-65 in the derby as Ayse Cora and Kelsey Plum combined for 39 backcourt points.

Galatasaray are having a major wobble of late and lost again to slump to a 3-3 record, this time falling 84-82 to Hatay, who were inspired by 17 points from Merve Aydin, who was one of five players in double-digits.

Elsewhere, Besiktas flew past Ormanspor 88-58 as Shavonte Zellous exploded for 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Mersin blew away Istanbul Universitesi with Krystal Thomas going for a monstrous 18 points and 17 rebounds.

Reyer Venezia lost again which makes their previously flawless start to the season seem like a distant memory. Successive defeats were served, after they were cut down 86-79 at fellow EuroCup Women entrants, Passalacqua Ragusa, with Jessica Kuster scoring a team-high 19 points.

No separating Bourges and Carolo Basket
Bourges Basket and Flammes Carolo Basket are co-leaders in France after winning their respective fixtures over the weekend.

The former were in blistering form as they routed Saint-Amand 94-32 thanks mainly to 20 points from Marine Johannes, while Elodie Godin accumulated 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.

Flammes Carolo Basket waltzed their way past Nantes Reze 87-65 as Amel Bouderra starred with 19 points and 9 assists.
