More drama to complete opening week of Regular Season

MUNICH (EuroCup Women) Eight more teams picked up opening wins to conclude Gameday 1 of the 2017-18 Regular Season.

There was more drama with a thrilling contest between compatriots Istanbul Universitesi and AGU Spor, decided by Ilyada Guner’s late basket to beat the buzzer.

Ify Ibekwe had an impressive efficiency rating of 33, racking up 24 points along with 12 rebounds, in the 76-74 triumph for the home side.

Despite leading the visitors with a game-high 28 points, it was defeat for Danielle Page in her long-awaited comeback from injury.

Sleza Wroclaw also opened Group E with a home win as they overcame Basket 90 Gdynia with a 72-61 win.

Group A

TTT Riga made a strong start as they brushed aside Besitkas JK with a 78-52 victory at home. Ieva Krastina top-scored with 17 points, while Azania Stewart produced at both ends with 5 blocks to go with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Group C

Artego Bydgoszcz upset the Russian home crowd as they recorded an impressive 70-87 road win against MBA Moscow.

Denesha Stallworth and Elzbieta Miedzik combined for 47 points in the win, with Julie McBride dishing out 10 assists, as well as contributing 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Group D

Courtney Paris posted a mammoth double-double after putting up 23 points and 19 rebounds to lead Hatay BB past Piestanske Cajky in an 82-58 victory.

The Turkish side were joined in a winning start by Energa Torun as Agnieszka Skobel fired in 27 points on 11-of-13 shooting to see off ACS Sepsi 84-69.

Group F

Rutronik Stars Keltern used a dominant second quarter as a platform for their 77-69 success over Peac-Pecs, with 16 points coming from Tatsiana Likhtarovich as the German side joined Carolo Basket on a 1-0 start.

Group H

In Thursday's late game, which brought conclusion to Week 1 action, Portuguese newcomers began in fine fettle, taking down their Basketball Nymburk 70-62. Marcia Costa sent an early warning to her opponents for the Regular Season, finishing with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Costa's 30 was the highest individual haul in opening week action.
