Basket 90 Gdynia, MBA Moscow overcome thrillers to advance on final day

MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - Basket 90 Gdynia and MBA Moscow held their nerve in frantic finishes as both teams secured their place in the next round as the Regular Season concluded on Thursday.

MBA Moscow pulled out a crucial 68-71 win on the road at Umea Udominate to advance, despite a late scare.

The visitors raced out of the blocks in a 9-32 opening period, but Umea - who still progress as one of the best third-placed teams - produced a huge fightback to take the lead ahead of the final minute.

Anna Leshkovtseva scored the go-ahead basket and MBA Moscow were able to seal the win from the foul line to finish as runners-up in Group C.

Meanwhile, Basket 90 Gdynia came through a straight shootout for the Play-Off Round 1 as 27 points from Kahleah Cooper helped her side to a 58-57 triumph over AGU Spor.

The visitors were left to rue costly missed free throws at the death and were dealt more heartbreak when Umea's defeat confirmed their exit from the competition.

Group A
TTT Riga held off a late fightback from Olympiacos to maintain their perfect record with a 74-70 success at home. The Latvian side head straight into the Round of 16 with Azania Stewart netting a team-high 17 points.

Group B
Enisey produced a stunning final quarter effort to overcome Mersin for a 75-70 triumph which sealed their place in the next round as one of the best third-placed teams. Jacinta Monroe finished with 11 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists as her side poured in 26 points in the fourth.

Group D
Despite starting Gameday 6 in fourth place, ACS Sepsi saw results go their way to make the next stage. The Romanian side defeated Piestankse Cajky 64-57, while Energa Torun's hopes ended with a 66-58 loss away at Hatay BB.

Hind Ben Abdelkader fired in 25 points for Hatay as they move into the Round of 16 after making it six wins from six in the group.

Group E
While there were contrasting emotions elsewhere in the group, it was plain-sailing for Sleza Wroclaw with a crushing 55-95 victory against Istanbul Universitesi punching their ticket directly into the Round of 16.

Group F
DVTK made sure of their place in the next round as Kirby Burkholder scored 18 points in a vital 63-72 win on the road against Rutronik Stars Keltern. The German side had their own chance of progression, but failed to recover from a slow start.

Group G
Spar Citylift Girona continued their winning run in the competition to move onto the Round of 16 following a dominant 54-83 win at VBW CEKK Cegled.

Nicole Romeo put up 21 points with 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range as Girona edged out Basket Landes for top spot.

Group H
Virtus Eirene powered to victory in the second half as their 79-69 win at home to Basketball Nymburk ensured the Italian side stayed unbeaten and head into the Round of 16.

Group J
CMB Cargo Uni Gyor took care of their own fate with an impressive 62-63 win away at Namur to finish with a 3-3 record. Nirra Fields had a team-high 18 points to send her side into Play-Off Round 1.

*Despite not playing, Elfic Fribourg claimed one of the best 3rd-placed spots from Conference 2, while Good Angels Kosice will head straight into the Round of 16.
