Italy, Croatia last stops in May schedule of FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Trophy Tour

MILAN & ZAGREB (Italy & Croatia) - The FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Trophy Tour concluded the month of May with a landmark stop in Italy and with some more on-court action in Croatia.

The Group C host city, Milan, was the focal point of various activities on May 24-25 to mark the 100 Days to Go to the start of FIBA EuroBasket 2022 and of course the Trophy Tour could not but make a stop in the capital of Lombardy and join in the happenings.

The EuroBasket trophy took center stage in the emblematic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II arcade on May 24, for the unveiling of the Tissot Countdown Clock that started counting down to the tournament tip-off on September 1.

The Milan-born Italy and Atlanta Hawks star Danilo Gallinari, Italy head coach Meo Sacchetti, Hall of Fame inductee Dino Meneghin, FIP president Giovanni Petrucci and LOC president Raffaelle Pagnozzi represented the national team and the organizers of FIBA EuroBasket 2022.

Meanwhile the Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, and the Councilor for Sport, Tourism and Youth, Martina Riva welcomed FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak and were in attendance for the activities.

Later that day the trophy accompanied coach Sacchetti and Dino Meneghin to the Sky Sport studios for a special television show on FIBA EuroBasket 2022.

On May 25, the trophy was out and about in the historic city center for almost the entire day, giving Italian fans the chance to have their picture taken with it in front of Milan's most famous landmark sites.

On May 29, the Trophy Tour made its final stop for the month of May in Zagreb, to coincide with the start of the Croatian basketball league play-off finals.

The trophy was a guest of honor in the Drazen Petrovic Basketball Hall on May 30, as Zadar overcame hosts Cibona Zagreb 77-70 in the opening game of the series.

Thousands of fans from Zagreb and beyond who attended the game didn't miss the opportunity to meet Bounce, the EuroBasket mascot, and take a photo with trophy in front of the arena that is named after one of Europe's greatest basketball legends.

The tour's next stop will be in Group B host, Cologne, from June 3 to 5 while on June 14 it's scheduled to transfer to the host city of the Final Phase, the German capital Berlin. You can find the entire FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Trophy Tour schedule here.
