Tickets for Chinese Taipei's pivotal third window fixtures sell out in under 3 hours

TAIPEI (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers) -Chinese Taipei have two crucial games coming up in the third window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers and tickets to both contests have sold out in less than three hours following their release.

This further underscores basketball's popularity in Chinese Taipei, and it augurs well for the national team, whose two fixtures in the June-July Qualifiers are extremely critical for them to continue on their path to Road to China 2019.

Chinese Taipei currently have a 1-win, 3-loss record and need at least one more win in the third window to secure a berth in the second round, where fellow Group B teams Australia and Philippines have already qualified. The Taipei quintet very nearly upended the Philippines in their first round meeting, and the home team are surely raring to play the Filipinos again at home, where their fans are certainly going to give all-out support.

Perhaps the most important contest, however, will be Chinese Taipei's match with the Japanese, who remain winless after two windows. Should Chinese Taipei fall short against the Philippines again, their game with Japan will decide who qualifies to the second round, since coach Chou Chun-San's crew defeated Japan by only one point in their previous encounter.

Expected to lead the charge for Chinese Taipei in the third window are Chen Ying-Chun, Chou Yi-Hsiang, Chiang Yu-An and  veteran Quincy Davis.

Both of Chinese Taipei's third window fixtures will be held at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium, which seats  7,000 spectators. This means that more than 14,000 tickets were sold out less than 3 hours after they were released to the public. Chinese Taipei will first play the Philippines on 29 June before closing their first round campaign against East Asia rivals Japan on 2 July.
