Jordan and Tucker ready for the challenge against Lebanon

AMMAN (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers) - Jordan is making other teams sit up and take notice at the ongoing Asian Qualifiers.

Of the four games so far, the side is averaging 96.3 PPG, which is the second best among the 16 Asia-Oceania teams.

Nearly a quarter of these points have come thanks to naturalized guard Darquavis Tucker. Tucker has been a force to reckon with on both ends of the floor, with a stunning efficiency of +23.5.

“It’s about trying to help my team in any way possible, even if it means doing more than one thing,” said the 30-year-old southpaw.

Jordan is 4-0 and atop Group C that also features Lebanon, India and Syria. It has already qualified to the second round.

“Yes I have thought about it [playing in the second round]. But right now I’m focused on staying healthy and putting up shots everyday,” said the 6ft 3in (1.90m) backcourt star who is currently playing in the Argentinian league.

Home court advantage has proved decisive for the West Asian side, and it will look to continue that winning streak against bottom placed India.

But the most awaited game of the upcoming third window will be Jordan’s away matchup against Lebanon. The winning team here has a chance to top the Group and carry forward the advantage into the second round.

The last time Lebanon and Jordan went head to head, Jordan won an 87-83 thriller.

Now, though, the Al Nashama will need to replicate the feat without many cheering fans. But Tucker is ready for the challenge.

“Playing there [in Lebanon] will be fun. Every away game is difficult but we must focus on winning,” Tucker said.

Jordan takes on Lebanon on 28 June followed by India on 1 July.
