Guinea's Diallo retires from national team
CONAKRY (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers) - Guinea's Alpha Aguibou Diallo has retired from the national team.
The announcement was made on Thursday by the Secretary-General of the Guinean Basketball Federation Oumar Camara-Sampil.
The 6ft11in (2.10m) center represented his country at FIBA AfroBasket 2017 and in the second-leg of Group A of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers last month in Tunisia.
Guinea were eliminated from the contention for a spot in next year's World Cup in China after losing all their six games against Tunisia, Chad and Cameroon.
The 25-year-old last played for Kavala Basketball Union in Greece's second-tier League.
"He brought his experience and contributed to the development of Guinean Basketball, and we thank him for his patriotism," Camara noted.
