Angola trim squad to seventeen ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

LUANDA (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers) - Angolans are making sure to count on their most talented roster for the upcoming Group C of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers.

Following the arrival from Portugal of former FIBA AfroBasket MVP Carlos Morais over the weekend, Yanick Moreira, who plays for Russian Parma Basket, joined the team on Monday. 

In the process, Angola newly-appointed head coach Will Voigt trimmed the preliminary squad from 25 to 17. The American play-caller is to announce the final roster on Thursday.

From November 24-26, Angola will host the four-team Qualifier against Morocco, Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The teams that finish on top-three of each Qualifier (Groups A, B, C and D) will advance to the 12-team second-round where teams will play home and away games with the top two teams from each group and the best 3rd-place team booking their places for FIBA's flagship event, taking place from August 31 to September 15, 2019.
