TAIPEI (Chinese Taipei) - The Chinese Taipei Basketball Association (CTBA) have approved a selection of 24 players on the preliminary roster for the upcoming Window 1 of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers.

Chinese Taipei might not have made it to the Quarter-Finals in Asia Cup 2022, but their epic clash against Jordan in the Qualification to Quarter-Finals round stands as one of the best games of the event.

The key players from the Jakarta campaign are listed in the Window 1 preliminary roster from Ying-Chun Chen (14.3 points per game), Will Artino (15.5 points per game), and Cheng Liu (17.7 points per game).

The hero from the previous Qualifiers for his clutch scoring against Guam, Ting-Chien Lin (17.0 points per game at Asia Cup 2022), is also on the list.

Other players who made an impression in the previous Qualifiers, but were not a part of the Asia Cup team are Hsiang-Chun Tseng and Mohammad Al Bachir Gadiaga, as well as national team veteran Long-Mao Hu.

Chinese Taipei's path to Asia Cup 2025 Qualification goes through Group B where they will go up against Hong Kong, the Philippines, and New Zealand.

Their first game of the Qualifiers will be against the Tall Blacks on 22 February 2024 at 19:00 (GMT +8) at Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taipei. Then, they will travel to the Philippines to face Gilas on 25 February 2024 at 19:30 (GMT +8) at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Like the previous cycle, the 24 Asia Cup Qualifiers teams are drawn into 6 groups of 4. Each team plays the other 3 teams on a home-and-away basis over 3 windows, with 2 games per window. 

The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, making a total of 12 teams. 

The six 3rd-place teams from each group, meanwhile, qualify to play in a final qualifying tournament. The top 4 teams from this competition will take the remaining spots of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
