Tuesday’s Top 5 Players at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2016

CHENZHOU (FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2016) - Day 4 at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2016 in Chenzhou-Hunan continued to provide high levels of action and excitement. Al Ahli outlasted Al Shorta for their second straight win, and Barsy Atyrau finally broke through the win column. Petrochimi and Al Riyadi, meanwhile, both preserved their unbeaten slates to set things up for what should be a very intense match up on Day 5.

FIBA.com presents the Top 5 performers from Tuesday.

Alaa Al-Saedi
Al Shorta may have lost their crucial tiff with Al Ahli, but one thing they can smile about is the performance of Alaa Al-Saedi. The 26-year-old 2.03m power forward waxed hot on Day 5 with 15 points on 7-of-9 field goal shooting, but even more impressive was his grabbing 22 rebounds and a block.

Qais Al-Shabebi
This is the second straight game where Al-Shabebi has put up a monster double-double. He had 16 points and 17 rebounds last night, and he was even more impressive in their win over Al Shorta, recording 26 points, 17 boards and 3 assists. The 2.00m forward/center should remain a solid force in the paint for the UAE five.

Pavel Micheev
One big reason Barsy Atyrau played so well in their rout of Malaysia was the 30-point explosion of Pavel Micheev. The 31-year-old forward already played for Kazakhstan in the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016, and he has carried his solid play here in the Champions Cup. He has proven to be an effective stretch forward who can keep opposing defenses honest with his outside shooting.

Wael Arakji
The man known as the “Lebanese Dragic” has really come into his own in this competition. He has been efficient as hell and has really blossomed into a leadership role with Al Riyadi. He had his best game yet on Day 4, scoring 21 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, handing out 6 assists and netting a whopping 5 steals.

Karim Zeinoun
Arakji is not the only rising star for Lebanon. 17-year-old Karim Zeinoun announced his presence at the senior level with a 20-point eruption against ONGC, making 3 triples and shooting 11-of-24 total from the field. He also hauled down 7 rebounds and got 2 steals in what seemed like a glimpse of the future of Lebanese basketball.
