The top performers of 2025 AmeriCup Qualifiers Window 1, Matchday 2

MIAMI (United States) – Chilean center Manuel Suárez completed a spectacular first window of the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers, finishing with the best efficiency during the second round of Window 1 games.

 

The 6’10 big man had an efficiency of 39 thanks to scoring 29 points with 9 rebounds, an assist and a block in Chile’s historic 79-77 win over Argentina. Suárez was also among the top performers during the first set of games this window, notching a 30-efficiency score and becoming the only player to repeat on his occasion.

Another big man, Puerto Rico’s Ismael Romero, also shined with an efficiency of 27 in his country’s 86-67 win over Bahamas, where both teams now sit with 1-1 records in Group D. Romero went off or 22 points (9/12 from the field), 5 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block.

In the same game, former NBA player Kai Jones also delivered for the Bahamians and won a spot among the top performers thanks to a stat line of 14 points (6/8 from the field), 9 boards, an assist, a block and a steal for an efficiency of 23.

Uruguay’s Joaquín Rodríguez had a day to remember, leading his country to a second consecutive victory over Panama (77-55), this time on the road. The shooting guard was clutch on both ends of the floor, contributing 18 points (including 4 three-pointers), 8 assists and 4 steals for an efficiency of 22.

Experienced Brazilian point guard Elinho Corazza rounded out the quintet by proving that you don’t always need to score to be productive. In their second win over Paraguay (108-53), the 34-year-old had 10 assists and no turnovers. He made his only shot attempt (a three-pointer) and finished with 3 points and 5 steals for an efficiency of 21.
