Mozambique call up 16 players for FIBA AfroBasket 2017 Zone 6 Qualifiers
MAPUTO (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - Two weeks after being re-appointed head coach of Mozambique's men's national team, Milagre Macome has selected 16 players for the preparations of the FIBA AfroBasket 2017 Zone 6 Qualifiers.
Without making significant changes, Macome - who last coached his country at FIBA AfroBasket 2013 - kept nine of the 12 players who featured at FIBA AfroBasket 2015 in Tunisia.

Mozambique will do battle in Zone 6 Group H against rivals Botswana, hosts Zimbabwe and Seychelles in the Zimbabwe capital of Harare from March 19-25. The team that comes out on top will earn a place in the Final Round of this year’s FIBA AfroBasket taking place in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo (August 19-30).

The qualifiers will be played in a round-robin format with each team taking on its three opponents.
The team that finishes second in Group H will have a second chance of advancing to Brazzaville by taking on the second-placed team of Group G, which consists of Zambia, Angola, Madagascar and South Africa.
