Madagascar on the pole position in Zone 6 AfroBasket 2021 Pre-Qualifiers

HARARE (Zimbabwe) - One more ticket for the FIBA AfroBasket 2021 Qualifiers will be decided by the end of the week in Harare, and Madagascar are looking very good.

Two games into the regional pre-qualifier that has convened a team from Africa Zone 7 and two from Zone 6, and Madagascar record a commanding 2-0 mark.

After beating hosts Zimbabwe 74-57 on Day 1, the Malagasy outscored Zambia 98-91 in overtime to sit on the pole position of the three-team qualifier.

And one Malagasy player in particular has been inspiring. After finishing with eight rebounds and zero point against Zimbabwe, Monja Romain Faralahy recorded a game-high 26 points and 14 rebounds in the first of two games against Zambia.

Madagascar had a day rest on Thursday before resuming their campaign on Friday against Zambia.

While Madagascar seem in control of their pre-qualifiers destiny things are getting better for Zimbabwe who improved to a 1-1 mark after beating Zambia 80-54 on Thursday. Zambia dropped to 0-2.

The winner of this qualifier will advance to the Final Round of the AfroBasket 2021 Qualifiers, where they will complete Group A, which includes reigning African champions Tunisia, Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo.
