A look back at the top performers of BAL Group A's Day 1 in Bamako

BAMAKO (Mali) - And by the end of Day 1 of Group A action of the First Round of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) GSP of Algeria reached the 100-point mark, dispatching Al Nasare of Libya 106-80 while SLAC of Guinea rallied to upset  hosts AS Police of Mali 75-69.

Before the action returns on Saturday with two more exciting Group A games, here's a look at Friday's top performers.

DONALD COLE (Al Nasare)

Al  Nasare may have struggled throughout the match, but shooting guard Donald Cole was a one-man show for the Libyans.

Cole not only tried time and time again to keep Al Nasare in contention, but making six three-pointers to finish with a team-high 19 points deserves all imaginable credit.

MEROUANE BOURKAIB (GSP)

Bourkaib proved to be the Algerians's offensive weapon. He was far from being a lethal scorer, but when it came to running the floor, no-one did it better him.

Bourkaib's game-best seven assists translate perfectly his ability to pace his team's offense, and of course his teammates responded accordingly as four GSP players scored in double digits.

HICHEM BENAYAD-CHERIF and MICHAEL KOIBE (GSP)

Michael Koibe (GSP)

Both Cherif and Koibe spent no more than 20 minutes on the floor to deny Al Nasare's hopes in the match.

The duo contributed nine of GPS's 14 three-pointers with Cherif leading the way with a game-high 22 points while Chad international Koibe added 15 to his account.

YAKOUBA SYLLA and SHAQUILLE Mc FARLAN (SLAC)

Shaquille Mc Farlan (SLAC)

While Guinea international Sylla hit five of his six three-point attempts on the way to 16 points, Mc Farlan ruled the painted area to finish with a game-high 24 points.

The pair were followed Asselain Serge Pohohoulou who added 14 points in  the winning cause.

Group A action returns on Saturday with AS Police taking on Al Nasare of Libya while GPS go up against of SLAC.
