Four more teams set to fight for place at Africa Basketball League 2019 ELITE 8

SALE (Morocco) - After a two-week break the FIBA Africa Basketball League 2019 resumes this weekend with Group A action in Sale, Morocco.

In the third window of FIBA ABL, hosts Association Sportive Sale will go up against Tunisian side Jeunesse Sportive Kairouan, Rivers Hoopers of Nigeria and Guinea's SLAC Basketball from Friday 1 March until Sunday, 3 March.

And the common goal between the four teams is to finish in the first two places of the group, which guarantee a place in the ELITE 8 knock out stage.

So far, two Egyptians teams - Al Ahly and Smouha Sporting Club - and Angola's Petro de Luanda and Primeiro D'Agosto reached the last eight of FIBA Africa's flagship clubs competition.

With a group of players consisting mostly of members of the Moroccan national team, AS Sale face a double mission: To try and protect their home court, and more importantly try to defend the 2017 continental title of the defunct FIBA Africa Champions Cup in Tunisia.

If they are capable of achieving those two objectives, the Moroccan champions would enhance their chances of the reaching the Final-Four due in May.

AS Sale and JS Kairouan have faced off earlier this year during FIBA Africa Zone 1 qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the Tunisians head to Morocco with a significant team as Mohamed Riadh Abdallah - who served as head coach of Tunisia at FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017 - has taken charge.

With the signing of Nigerian international Abdul Yahaya, Rivers Hoopers will look to build from their FIBA Africa Zone 3 title and try to become the first Nigerian side to move on the last four of Africa's elite basketball competition.

Then, last but not least,  Guinea's flag will be flown by debutant SLAC Basketball.
