US Monastir secure much-needed win on Day 4 at FIBA Africa Champions Cup Zone 1 Qualifiers

MONASTIR (FIBA Africa Champions Cup) - Hosts of FIBA Africa Champions Cup (ACC) 2017 Zone 1 Qualifiers, Union Sportive Monastirienne (USM) on Wednesday rallied from a two-point half-time deficit to deny Algeria's GS Petroliers 85-72. 

The Tunisians on Day 4, not only ended GS Petroliers' three-game winning streak, but they also improved their mark to 3-1 ahead of Thursday's last game of the regional qualifier.

And as a result, USM increased their chances of reaching the 12-team ACC Finals next week in Rades, on the outskirts of the capital Tunis. 

Early in the day, Moroccan side MAS achieved their first win in the qualifier thanks to a 75-58 triumph over Libyan outfit Al-Nasr Benghazi. 

Meanwhile, Association Sportive Sale of Morocco extended their winning streak to four games following a 89-51 triumph over Al-Ittihad of Libya.

So far, teams qualified include hosts ES Rades, Kano Pillars and Gome Bulls (both from Nigeria), AS Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malabo Kings (TBC) of Equatorial Guinea, City Oilers (Uganda), Interclube de Luanda and Sport Libolo e Benfica (Angola).

Mozambique champions Ferroviario da Beira have been awarded one of two wild cards.
