Fonix Hall
  • Fonix Hall, the third largest arena in Hungary and the largest outside of Budapest, is the main venue for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2022.

    Named after the Phoenix, a mythical firebird which is the symbol of Debrecen, the arena opened in 2002 when it staged the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

    The multi-purpose arena hosts many other activities as well. In 2020, European Men's Handball Championship games were played at the facility. Ice hockey and ballroom dancing are among the other events at the Fonix Hall.

    Basketball will take center stage from June 24 to July 4 at the Fonix Hall, which will have a seating capacity of 5,898 people.

  • The Olah Gabor Sports Hall has a seating capacity of 1,500 and will be used for some of the games at the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup.

    Originally constructed in 1978, it was renovated in 2013. It most recently served as one of the venues for the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2022.

    Olah Gabor was a renowned poet from Debrecen. Badminton is among the other sports played at the facility.
