Arias nominates small, quick Dominican team for U17 World Cup training camp
SANTA DOMINGO (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Dominican Republic head coach Alex Arias will be looking to put together a small but quick team from his 22-player preliminary roster for training camp ahead of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018.
Arias named the 22 players as the preparations build up for the Dominicans' second consecutive appearance at the U17 World Cup after finishing 11th at Zaragoza 2016. The Central Americans will be taking on Australia, Puerto Rico and Turkey in Group A in Argentina later this summer.

One distinguishing factor is a lack of size in Arias' player pool.
“Right now there is not much stature in this group. My tallest player is 6ft 6in (1.98m),” Arias said. “I have many good guards who have good size . Dominican basketball is fast and aggressive and I am going to use that.”
Nine of the players that helped Dominican Republic to fifth place at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017 are among the list of 22 nominees.
