    UAE - Dubai warms up for FIBA U17 World Championship with preparation tournament

    DUBAI (FIBA U17 World Championship) - The third edition of the FIBA U17 World Championship gets underway in a week's time, on 8 August, with the 16 best teams from across the globe gathering in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

    In anticipation of the first-ever FIBA World Championship taking place in the Gulf region, fans in Dubai can get a glimpse of the action to come at the Pre-World Championship Tournament taking place at the Hamdan Sport Complex from Friday 1 to Monday 4 August.

    This warm-up event will feature the host nation UAE as well as Spain, Greece, Egypt, Bahrain, and Lebanon. The six teams will compete in two separate groups. UAE, Bahrain and Greece will play in Group A, while Egypt, Lebanon, and Spain will play in Group B. The final is scheduled for 19:30 on August 4.

    The UAE Basketball Association is hosting the FIBA U17 World Championship under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.
     
    Ismail Al Gargawi, President of the UAE Basketball Association said: "This is an exciting moment for Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and international basketball. We are looking forward to world-class basketball and a world-class event that will have a long-lasting impact on the region’s youth and development of basketball."
