Serbia out for revenge against Spain in U17 Third-Place Game

DUBAI (FIBA U17 World Championship) - Before the United States and Australia do battle for the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship title, Europe takes center stage at the Hamdan Sports Complex as Serbia take on Spain for the third spot on the podium with the Serbs out for a bit of revenge.

Spain knocked off Serbia last summer in the final of the U16 European Championship with the game going to overtime. And that game will definitely be on the minds of the Serbians. As will the fact that they gave the United States a very tough game for nearly three quarters before finally getting worn down in the Semi-Finals.

Spain meanwhile have to come back and find themselves after wasting a 22-point lead in losing to Australia in overtime in the other Semi-Final. Spain watched as Australia scored the final eight points in the last two minutes including grabbing two steals in the final 35 seconds to erase a four-point deficit and send the game to overtime. Can Spain bounce back from that loss and knock off an extremely motivated Serbian team?

Before that question can be answered, the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship will determine the remaining placings of the teams. Canada take on Puerto Rico for fifth place, while China will clinch a third straight seventh place if they beat France.
