Gameday 1 Top Performers: Jones, Seilund, Filevych, Orban, Iagupova

MUNICH (Germany) - Jonquel Jones opened up the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2023 Qualifiers by producing one of the most dominant and productive displays of the modern era in the female global game.

Her astonishing effort allowed Bosnia and Herzegovina to collect an 87-81 home win against Belgium as Jones went off, harvesting an eye-bulging performance efficiency valuation of 52. That came courtesy of a spectacular double-double of 44 points and 22 rebounds as she showed why she was crowned the 2021 WNBA MVP.

While Anna Seilund and Denmark don't quite have the same profile, that should not diminish the dazzling effort from the guard. She propelled her country to a super 82-48 success against Austria, on what proved to be a flawless shooting night. Seilund made all nine of her attempts from the floor, dropping 22 points and also adding 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.

It was a wonderful opening to the campaign for Ukraine as they tore past frontrunners France 90-71 with both Krystyna Filevych and Alina Iagupova warranting places in the Top Performers lineup. The former made 9 of 11 from the field for 27 points, while her teammate showed out with 33 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Finally, after a disappointing campaign in the 2021 Qualifiers, Romania boosted their confidence this time around as they got off to a positive opening by beating Iceland 65-59. Nicolett Orban was the inspiration for the win as she completed a powerful double-double of 19 points and 18 rebounds.
