LJUBLJANA (Slovenia) - Emma Meesseman has added to her astonishing array of individual accomplishments after she posted the first ever triple-double in FIBA Women's EuroBasket history, as Belgium advanced to the Semi-Finals.
The Cats' marquee star was unstoppable in her team's 93-53 demolition of defending champions Serbia as she finished the contest with a stunning 15 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
"I HOPE THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT IS GOING TO PUSH US TO KEEP GOING FOR MORE HISTORY." - Meesseman
"I love writing history, whether it would be with the team or now it's with the stats," said Meesseman who came back into the game with two minutes to go and collected her 10th assist of the game.
"I didn't really care about going back on the court, but seeing the team – how happy they were for me, how enthusiastic we are for that – it's just amazing to witness and be part of it."
In typical fashion she also did the business at the defensive end by coming up with 5 steals for good measure. That contributed to her recording a fabulous performance efficiency valuation of 38.
"We're so happy right now, we accomplished one thing and I just hope this accomplishment in history is just going to push us to keep going for more history," she reflected.
It wasn't the first record-breaking performance by Belgium at FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2023, who dished 37 assists in the tournament opener against Israel to set a new competition all-time high.
