VALENCIA (Spain) - France and Spain passed the reins over to FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2023 co-hosts Slovenia and Israel in an official handover ceremony.
The symbolic act, in line with a now long-established tradition of the event, took place at half-time of the Semi-Final encounter between Belarus and France in Valencia, on Saturday evening.

Spain handed over to Slovenia as the next Final Phase hosts, while France handed over to Israel.
Mr. Jean-Pierre Siutat, French Basketball Federation President and FIBA Europe board member, handed the official ball of the event to FIBA Executive Director Europe Mr. Kamil Novak, who then pass it over to the President of the Israeli Basketball Association, Mr. Amiram Halevy.

Likewise, Spanish Basketball Federation President Mr. Jorge Garbajosa handed over the official ball of the event to FIBA Europe President Mr. Turgay Demirel, who then passed it over to former Slovenia international and FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2023 Ambassador Mrs. Maja Erkic.

The 39th edition of the FIBA Women's EuroBasket will be the fourth to implement co-hosting duties since 2015.
Tel Aviv in Israel and the Slovenian cities of Koper and Celje will each host a part of the Group Phase, while Slovenian capital Ljubljana will provide the stage for the Final Phase in 2023.
