WNBA center Fagbenle arrives in camp on a high, after being voted as the Polish League MVP. Meanwhile Leedham-Warner led her country in efficiency, scoring, rebounding, assists and steals during the qualifiers and will be welcomed back to Final Round, having not played at the event since 2013.
Additional WNBA and EuroLeague Women quality will be added by Karlie Samuelson of the Los Angeles Sparks, while there is still a core of 2012 Olympians, including the likes of forward Chantelle Handy and veteran playmaker, Stef Collins.
“We qualified after a very tough qualification group where only the winners qualified,” stated head coach, Chema Buceta.
“Now we will do our best to compete at the highest level against the best teams in Europe. We know it is going to be difficult, but we will face it with ambition, courage, team attitude and self-confidence.
“These are values that have guided us all the way through qualifying and I am sure they will make all of British basketball very proud,” concluded the play-caller.
Great Britain will face co-hosts Latvia, defending champions Spain, as well as Ukraine during the Group phase.
