USA set new All-Time points record!

SYDNEY (Australia) - Defending champions USA have made a serious statement of intent after they set a new FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup scoring record of 145 points in their game against Korea.

The 145-69 victory surpassed the previous record of 143 set by Brazil in 1990 against Malaysia. It was also a new record high for USA too, beating the previous record of 119 which had been achieved twice.

"It’s a great honor. There have been a lot of great teams that have played in the Women's World Cup so just to be able to break that record is amazing."

- Brianna Jones

The scoring frenzy also witnessed the game having more points in the first half than any other since 2000.

A'Ja Wilson and Brionna Jones were the main architects of the victory with the former adding 20 points and going 10 of 11 from the floor, while Jones was 12 of 14 en-route to 24 points. As a team, USA shot an outstanding 66 percent from the field.
