Excitement levels build as FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 schedule is finalized

SYDNEY (Australia) - The countdown continues for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2022 and an exciting milestone has been reached after the full schedule for the flagship tournament was confirmed.

The playing order and venues for all games of the Group Phase (September 22-27) have now been determined, while tip-off times for Final Phase games (September 29 - October 1) are also now available.

The event is going to be an absolute treat for the fans, with every game looking set to play a major role in the final outcome. That's because while reigning champions USA will be favorites as usual when they aim for a four-peat, the rest of the field looks completely unpredictable and that will only add to the thrill.

The Group Phase is set to have an amazing number of standout games and duels, with all eyes naturally on the Opals' opener against France on Thursday, September 22 - the very first day of the competition.

Australian Opals head coach Sandy Brondello

That has the makings of being a classic with both nations eyeing up a podium push and searching for a positive start. Australia head coach Sandy Brondello and her players will no doubt benefit from some amazing support from their fans on home soil as they prepare to bring the noise.

Women's basketball fans will also be drawn to the furious tempo and three-point shooting of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Finalists Japan, so look out for when they go up against Canada on Sunday, September 25. Each side served up an overtime epic in the Qualifying Tournament in Osaka last month.

Jonquel Jones, arguably the best player in the world

With an array of stellar names ready to step out, there are so many individual rivalries to look forward to as well, including tournament debutantes Bosnia and Herzegovina facing Belgium on Monday, September 26. The contest will have two of the world's best ballers locking horns in the shape of Jonquel Jones and Emma Meesseman.

Meanwhile, the hype around the second phase will be off the chart since the knockout games will be nothing but mouth-watering as the race for medals intensifies.

Fans are strongly urged to avoid disappointment and act quickly to secure their seats, so they can get themselves close to the action and alongside the world's best female ballers.
