SAN JUAN (Puerto Rico) - Following the Covid-19 Protocol for FIBA Official National Team and Club Competitions and the advice of its Medical Commission, FIBA has decided that both remaining games of Argentina at FIBA Women's AmeriCup 2021 will not take place.

Additional tests were performed yesterday and more members of the delegation were tested positive, and with the health and safety of players, coaches and officials being the primary consideration, the decision was made not to play Argentina games vs Venezuela and USA.

Argentina will lose these two games by forfeit and according to the official basketball rules, if in a tournament the team forfeits for the second time, the team shall be disqualified from the tournament and the results of all games played by this team shall be nullified.

The remaining four teams of group B, USA, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic will advance to Quarter-Finals starting on June 17.

FIBA will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and communicate any further updates regarding its competitions if necessary.
