    FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2019 draw set to take place in Dakar

    DAKAR (Senegal) - The clock is ticking fast for next month's biennial FIBA Women's AfroBasket in the Senegalese capital of Dakar.

    DAKAR (Senegal) - The clock is ticking fast for next month's biennial FIBA Women's AfroBasket in the Senegalese capital of Dakar.

    While all 12 nations continue their preparations for the upcoming event, FIBA Africa prepares to hold the draw of the competition on Sunday, July 29 .

    The FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2019 draw will take place at 19:00 GMT at Radisson Hotel in Dakar, and it will be live-streamed on facebook.com/fiba.

    The tournament will run from August 10 -18, and all games will take place at the newly-launched Dakar Arena located in the outskirts of the capital.

    The twelve (12) teams are divided into four (4) groups (A, B, C and D) of three (3) teams each. Each team will take on the two (2) opponents in its respective group in one-leg game.

    The top teams in each group will advance directly to the Quarter-Finals. The teams ranked second (2nd) and third (3rd) will play the qualification round for the Quarter-Finals.

    Teams qualified for the Dakar showdown include reigning champions Nigeria, hosts Senegal, Mali, Mozambique, Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Angola, Egypt, Tunisia, Cape Verde and both Kenya and DR Congo, who qualified by virtue of wild card invitations.

    The FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2019 will this year serve as a qualifier for the 2020 Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
