Competition System

Tipping off on 13 November 2023, the FIBA West Asia Super League (FIBA WASL) Season 2 will see a total of 18 teams, made up of 13 champions and 5 runners-up from domestic leagues from the Gulf, West, South, and Central Asia Sub-Zones.

Group Stages

The Group Stage games will tip off on November 13, 2023. The Gulf League games will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays, whereas the West Asia League games will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  

The Group Stages will be composed of 16 teams with 8 teams in each Sub-Zone League. The 8 teams in each Sub-Zone League will be split into groups of 2 with 4 clubs in each, and will play in a round robin, home & away system.

The first-place teams in each Sub-Zone League group will qualify directly for the Semi-Finals. The second and third-placed teams will face each other in a Play-In to qualify to the Semi-Finals.

Qualification to Semi-Finals

The qualification to the Semi-Finals in each FIBA WASL Sub-Zone League will pit the 2nd and 3rd in each group against each other.        
Teams will play a best-of-3 series over the month of February with the home advantage to the second-placed teams.

The 4 winners will join the teams who topped their respective groups and earned direct Semi-Final spots.

Semi-Finals

The Semi-Finals games will be played in a best-of-3 series.

The winners will advance to the Final and qualify for the Final 8. The losing teams meanwhile will face-off to battle for the remaining two Final 8 spots.

Final

The Group Phase Finals of the FIBA WASL Sub-Zone Leagues will be played in a best-of-3 series. The winners will be crowned Group Phase Champions of their respective Sub-Zone League.

Final 8

The Final 8 tournament will conclude the season.

The 6 qualified teams from the Sub-Zone League Group Phase, in addition to two champion teams from South and Central will battle against each other and the winner will be crowned the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) 2023-2024 champions.
