    Brazil and Argentina to play for South American Gold

    TUNJA (FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019) – With their triumphs in the Semi-Finals of the South American Women’s Championship 2018, Argentina and Brazil earned the right to play for the regional Gold medal. Meanwhile, Colombia and Paraguay will play for Bronze.

    Argentina defeated Paraguay 80-67, to advance to the Final of the South American Women’s Championship 2018. Paraguay had the better start and won the first half of the game 36-31. Argentina rebounded with a 31-11 third quarter and to take a 15-point lead into the last ten minutes of the game. Argentina maintained safe distance and celebrated the win. Debora Gonzalez led the scoring for the Argentinians with 23 points.

    Brazil made its way to the Gold-Medal game of the South American Women’s Championship following a 67-58 win over Colombia. The first half of the game was close, neither team able to secure a comfortable lead on the scoreboard. Brazil showed its dominant side with a 20-2 third quarter, with great additions from Clarissa dos Santos, who had a 21-point and 13-rebound “double-double” in the game. Colombia tried to discount from the difference, but the Brazilians stayed on course and claimed the win.

    In the Reclassification Round, Venezuela defeated Peru 76-62 and Ecuador defeated Chile 68-61.

    Tomorrow on the last day of the South American Women’s Championship 2018:
    7th place – Peru vs Chile
    5th place – Venezuela vs Ecuador
    Bronze Medal – Colombia vs Paraguay
    Gold Medal – Brazil vs Argentina
