    TUNJA (FIBA Women’s AmeriCup 2019) – The first two semi-finalist were defined after Argentina and Colombia added new wins in Group B action. Meanwhile in Group A action, Brazil extended to 2-0 and Venezuela captured its first win of the South American Championship.

    Brazil extended its Group Phase record to 2-0 following a 100-75 win over Paraguay to start Day 2 of the South American Women’s Championship 2018. The first half was even, but the third quarter was a different story as the team coached by Carlos Lima dominated the quarter 31-16. Led by a 25-point and 15-rebound “double-double” from Clarissa dos Santos, the Brazilian went on to win the remaining quarter, to claim the win.

    Argentina added its second win in Group B of the regional championship following a 78-33 win over Peru. The first ten minutes of the game were even but starting in the closing minutes of the first half, the Argentinians took over the scoreboard and set the rhythm of the game. A 22-1 third quarter sentenced the game in favor of the team coached by Cristian Santander. Andrea Boquete led the offense of Argentina with 14 points.

    Venezuela leveled its record at 1-1 after a 77-60 win over Chile. After finishing the first half with a 4-point lead, Venezuela went on to win the second half of the game 41-20 to claim the win in Group A action. Daniela Wallen led the scoring for the Venezuelans with 27 points. Meanwhile, in a losing effort, Tatiana Gomez was the leading voice for the Chileans with 18 points.
