Latvia made history by reaching the Quarter-Finals for the first time at the event as they put two opening losses behind them to defeat Argentina 72-58 behind 21 points and 14 rebounds from Laura Meldere.
Two-time runners-up Spain maintained their perfect record of reaching at least the Quarter-Finals at every edition as they produced their best display to defeat Canada 72-50. Nerea Hermosa starred with 19 points and 16 rebounds in the win with Raquel Carrera weighing in with a further 16 points.
Japan confirmed their return to the Last Eight stage with an 82-73 triumph over China with unbeaten Hungary awaiting next.
Meanwhile, USA and France both continued their strong form in their quest for the title and there will also be a repeat of the 2016 Final as Italy and Australia set up a showdown.
Shyla Heal poured in 20 points as the Sapphires defeated New Zealand 77-37, while Italy saw off tournament hosts, Belarus 65-50.
